Founded in 2019 by Dawn Molina in San Felipe, Mexico, Vintage Gypsy was created with one vision: to uncover beauty where others see only waste. Guided by the belief that not everything is trash, Dawn transforms discarded items into soulful, one-of-a-kind creations.
Her artistic process is rooted in finding magic in the overlooked—repurposing glass, metal, and natural elements into pieces that radiate light, energy, and meaning. Each design tells a story of renewal, creativity, and possibility.
Collections & Creations
🌙 Spirit Lamps – Custom woven glass lanterns infused with warmth and charm
💎 Glass Bottom Creations – Stunning recycled glass designs that shine with originality
✨ Crystal Mandalas – Sacred patterns made with crystals for energy and beauty
🌱 Curated Succulents – Living art pieces in unique, repurposed vessels
🕯 Firefly Candles – Upcycled bottles with wicks for glowing fuel-burning light
…and many more imaginative designs
The Inspiration
“I started Vintage Gypsy after moving to San Felipe. Seeing so much trash on the side of the road, I wanted to make a difference and find beauty in what others see as trash. I find satisfaction in discovering the beauty others do not see. Working out the kinks, solving the puzzle, finishing a piece, seeing the splendor in the end & sharing with others.” ~ Dawn Molina
Every Vintage Gypsy creation is more than an object—it’s a rescue, a reinvention, and a celebration of seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary.

👋 Hi, I’m Maxine Marshall! My husband and I retired to the beautiful shores of San Felipe, Baja California 🏖️ after moving from Canada 🍁. Soon after, we joined the Scorpion 4WD Club 🦂🚙.
On one of our adventures to Algodones, my husband found a handmade copper scorpion 🧡. When we returned a couple of years later to buy another, the artist was gone…
That sparked a passion in me! 🔥 I made it my mission to learn how to create scorpions myself. Once I perfected the design, I began crafting earrings 💎, trees 🌳, and more. Word spread, and soon I was getting custom requests for special colors and sizes 🎨. What started as curiosity quickly grew into a joyful hobby that now fills my days with creativity ✨.
All of my materials are inspired by San Felipe’s natural beauty 🌊🌴—from locally found wood, stones, and shells, to leftover wire from electrical work 🔌. I love seeing how a simple bundle of wire transforms into art 🎨—and even more, I treasure the joy it brings when someone finds the perfect spot for their one-of-a-kind piece 🥰.

I was never a crafty or artistic person. I love art and have been to many museums. My son was an artist. Several years ago while working, I felt stagnant. A neighbor painted rocks and I thought “I can do that”. And it quickly became an obsession.
I had traveled to Mexico and collected sea glass. I looked up ideas and fell in love with wrapped sea glass and again said, "I can do that.”
Giving gifts for all sorts of occasions led to some sales at craft shows.
Spending a day here and there and evenings while watching TV and painting or wrapping has kept me sane and added depth to my life.

In 2024, I showcased my work publicly for the first time at El Dorado Ranch, a milestone that encouraged me to keep creating and sharing.
For me, the greatest reward is seeing the joy and surprise on people’s faces when they experience my work. Each piece is crafted with skill, creativity, and heart—turning raw metal into designs that combine strength and beauty.

👗 A lifelong designer, seamstress, and creator, Naomi has been recycling and reinventing anything imaginable for as long as she can remember. Her design studio & boutique in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico is filled with one-of-a-kind clothing, jewelry, and eclectic pieces.
🎤 Naomi hosts local fashion shows and has been featured as a guest designer at others. Her top honor was being invited to Border Fashion Week in Nogales, Mexico—held in the city’s historic Bullfighting Ring! 🐂✨
🧜♀️ As co-founder of the Mermaid’s Market (Arts & Crafts Market) in Puerto Peñasco, Naomi has helped foster a thriving community of artists and makers.

Cat has always been a self-taught creative ✂️✨, balancing her artistic passion while raising a family 👩👧👦 and working full-time. Along the way, she shared her love of art 🎭 by teaching adult education classes at night school.
In 2024, Cat and her husband embraced a new adventure 🚙🌴, moving to San Felipe, Baja California, with only what could fit in the back of their vehicle. Now happily retired 🌞 and settled into the Baja lifestyle, she has dedicated herself fully to her lifelong passion—mixed media and collage art 🎨🖌️.
Mixed Media Art allows Cat to experiment with multiple forms of expression 🎨🖼️—acrylics, watercolor, oils, pastels, charcoal, photography, and digital techniques—layered to create vibrant and unexpected results.
Collage Art holds a special place in her heart ❤️✂️. Cat designs most of the papers she uses by painting new and recycled papers ♻️📜, vintage book pages 📖, and other materials. Each cut, arrangement, and glued fragment becomes part of something entirely new 🌟. By creating her own papers, Cat ensures every piece is one-of-a-kind 🌈, rich with depth, texture, and storytelling.
Today, Cat’s work reflects both her journey 🛤️ and her surroundings—blending resilience, reinvention, and the beauty of Baja 🌊🌺 into every unique piece.

I paint whatever speaks to my heart ❤️—and this medium continues to bring me immense joy. I believe joy is one of the most important ingredients of living a full, healthy, abundant life 🌞🌺.

Born in Mesa, Arizona 🌵 and now living and creating in San Felipe, Mexico 🌊,
Merkel McLendon is an artist whose travels have shaped his vision and practice. Wherever he goes, he sees beauty in the overlooked—objects ready to be repurposed and given new life. ♻️
Inspired by water and its inhabitants 🐟, his art often reflects the rhythms of oceans, seas, and rivers. Found object art, for Merkel, is more than assembling materials—it’s a ritual. The act of searching, cleaning, and preparing discarded items is intimate and intentional, each object placed to create harmony and spark a response in the viewer ✨.
Beyond assemblage, Merkel explores oil painting 🎨, acrylics, ceramics 🏺, and photography 📸. His work has been exhibited in Phoenix, Arizona 🌆, Marine City, Michigan 🌾, and in his beloved San Felipe, Mexico 🌴.
